LEVEL 2 Rear Shock (250mm travel) - suitable for CRF250 Rally ONLY - NOT CRF250L
Developed in conjunction with our engineering partners TracTive Suspension in the Netherlands, our unique high performance shock features a huge 46mm diameter body and piston (similar to those used for our KTM 690 and Yamaha Tenere 700 rear suspension) which offers a dramatic increase in oil flow for far more precise damping control under a wide range of conditions, and more oil capacity to help reduce damping fade.
Together with offering a wide range of spring rates, the nitrogen-charged shock body features a separation piston to eliminate foaming and provides consistent damping characteristics. This is key during prolonged off-road riding or more spirited highway riding, and whether you are solo or laden with luggage.
Be aware that while our LEVEL 2 (250mm travel) CRF shock offers the same overall travel as the OEM specification, now you have the rear of the bike sprung with correct rate for your weight (ie. without the excessive sag of the soft standard components) correspondingly you will have effectively raised your ride/seat height by around 30-40mm (depending on your personal sag preference) - in other words, you now have more of the total travel available than before, and a corresponding increase in seat height and ground clearance.
In that regard, while it is perfectly possible to fit our 250mm travel LEVEL 2 rear shock independently of any other upgrades, we would recommend you consider matching it with our dedicated LEVEL 2 fork kit for properly balanced ride-height and geometry - offering a high performance suspension set-up front and rear.
Subsequently if you do plan to fit our LEVEL 2 front and rear together, we also recommend you also fit our +20mm longer side stand (link below), otherwise the taller height of the bike will cause it to lean over excessively when on the OEM side stand.
LEVEL 2 Shock specifications

High quality all-aluminium 46mm diameter body/piston shock.
16mm damper shaft provides exceptional strength and smooth travel.
Manual preload adjustment.
Easily accessible combined damping adjuster (24 clicks), which incorporates proportional valving between Rebound (80%) and Compression (20%) damping.
Choice of five different spring rates available (at the point of purchase - see drop down menu) to more closely match your weight and riding style requirements (see SPRING RATES section).
Additional information
LEVEL 2 dimensions : 412mm eye to eye / shock stroke is 98mm.
Saves 0.25kg (1/2lb) in weight compared to OEM steel shock.
Our CRF250 shock kits also includes a dedicated TracTive preload and damping adjustment multi-tool, and replacement lower mounting bolt (longer).
All Rally Raid Products / TracTive rear shocks are fully serviceable/rebuildable and come with a 2-year Manufacturer warranty.

Suggested rider/spring rates for LEVEL 2 shock - depending on your rider & luggage weight (weigh yourself with all your riding gear on):

If you do plan to fit our LEVEL 2 front and rear suspension together, we strongly recommend you also fit our +20mm longer side stand (link below), otherwise the taller height of the bike will cause it to lean over excessively when on the OEM side stand.
Please note: our LEVEL 2 shock is NOT suitable the CRF250L model - in that instance we recommend you fit our LEVEL 1 shock which increases the ride/seat hight of that model by 25-35mm compared to the standard specification shock. Please see the LEVEL 1 shock page for further information.
