Our twin Open-Cartridge system was developed specifically to offer Triumph 400X
Scrambler owners a way to address the shortcomings of the OEM fork components.
Offering a significant improvement in all-round performance, with or without luggage, this fork upgrade kit is ideally suited for those riders embarking on trails, road or overland travel, with frequently and significantly changing [luggage] load and all-terrain riding conditions.
They also offer a significant improvement for road-riding as well due to the improved Damping and custom linear springs.
Supplied as a DIY fit direct replacement for the OEM internal components, this kit
retains the OEM advertised 150mm travel length, which in reality we have found to
be only 131mm, so 19-20mm less than stated in their descriptions.
Fitting these fork cartridges will increase the seat height by around 10mm, but if this
Is a problem, then it is possible to slide the fork tubes through the triples by 10mm
to reset the seat height.
Triumph 400X/SPEED Fork Kit specification
Our Open Cartridge Fork Kit has the same 150mm travel as the OEM fork
components, but offers much higher performance and added adjustability.
Features include:
• Both cartridges are fully adjustable for fork spring preload, with separate compression damping in one cartridge and rebound damping control in the other, both are fully adjustable.
• Our replacement billet fork caps feature up to 10mm of spring preload adjustment.
• 22mm piston for improved oil flow, damping performance, feel and response.
• Supplied with linear fork springs in a choice of rates to match the rider weight.
• PDS check-valve circuit to enhance the damping progression towards the final
portion of the stoke.
• Hard anodised CNC machined aluminium (external) and stainless steel (internal)
component construction for durability.
Supplied with a pair of linear-wound springs in a choice of two different rates, and
our high-strength hard-anodised aluminium 22mm cartridge/piston tubes. Complete
with our own design billet aluminium adjustable preload fork caps.
Spring available in 2 rates: 5.0N/mm (standard) and 5.5N/mm (stiffer).
Note. in the case of rider & luggage over 100kg, please select the 5.5N/mm spring.

Note. Our LEVEL 1 Fork Kit is designed to be a straightforward DIY fit, but does require some basic knowledge of fork disassembly and suspension work. If you do not feel able/or have the facilities to do this at home, we recommend you contact a suspension specialist to perform the work for you.
This Fork Kit will fit the Triumph Speed 400, but you will need to slide the forks through the Triple CLamp by up to 30mm.
